SAM 3D

Real photos into 3D objects. Meta's photo-to-3D reconstruction.

SAM 3D is Meta's photo-to-3D model. Give it a single photograph of a real object and it reconstructs a full 3D model, geometry and texture, ready to drop into a scene. It is built for real-world things: products, props, furniture, and everyday objects captured on a phone, turned into usable 3D in seconds.

SAM 3D example 3

A wooden dining chair against a plain wall

SAM 3D example 4

How it works

01

Describe or upload

Type a text description of the 3D model you need, or upload reference images from 1-4 angles.

02

Choose your model

Pick a 3D generation model and configure settings. See the credit cost before you generate.

03

Generate and export

Your 3D model is ready in seconds. Download in FBX, GLB, OBJ, or other formats for your pipeline.

A photo of a real object, reconstructed in 3D.

SAM 3D reads a single photograph and rebuilds the object in it as a 3D model. No turntable, no multi-angle capture, no scanning rig. Point a camera at a real thing, a mug, a shoe, a chair, and get back geometry and texture you can rotate, light, and place in a scene.

It is Meta's reconstruction model, tuned for real-world objects rather than clean studio renders. That makes it a fast way to bring physical props and products into a 3D pipeline: capture on a phone, reconstruct, and refine from there.

Use it as the quick capture step. Reconstruct a real object with SAM 3D, then promote the result through the 3D Tools, retexture, remesh, or rig, or step up to Meshy or Rodin when you need production-grade topology and PBR output.

One photo, no rig

A single image is enough. SAM 3D infers the full shape and surface of a real object from one photograph, so anything you can snap on a phone becomes a starting 3D model.

Built for real objects

Meta trained SAM 3D on real-world objects, so it handles the everyday things, products, props, furniture, better than models tuned only for clean concept art.
